What is the verification process for WASSCE and NECO SSCE results?

Nigerian undergraduate applicants must meet the minimum requirements for WASSCE or NECO SSCE to qualify for admission to their chosen program. Verification of these examination results is required to satisfy the official transcript requirement. The article shows the detailed verification steps for the following platforms:

WASSCE candidates

  • WAEC Result Verification online portal (https://verify.waeconline.org.ng/#)
    1. Click Don't have a PIN? click here to buy now and fill in the following information:
      • Surname
      • First name
      • Email address
      • Mobile number
    2. Choose your preferred payment method, agree to the Terms and Conditions, and click Buy PIN.
    3. On the next page, review your details carefully. If everything is correct, click Pay Now.
    4. Upon successful payment, the Reference PIN will be displayed on the screen and sent to the email address you provided.
    5. Email the Reference PIN along with your examination details to transcripts@nexford.edu for verification. Ensure to include the following information:
      • Examination year
      • Exam type (private or school)
      • Examination number
    6. The Admissions team will notify you once the result has been verified. A confirmation message will be sent to you upon completion of the process.
  • WAEC Direct (https://www.waecdirect.org/)
      1. Purchase a Reference PIN and a serial number from any of the following:
      2. Upon successful payment, email the Reference PIN and serial number along with your examination details to transcripts@nexford.edu for verification. Ensure to include the following information:
        • Examination year
        • Exam type (private or school)
        • Examination number
      3. The Admissions team will notify you once the result has been verified. A confirmation message will be sent to you upon completion of the process.

NECO SSCE candidates

  • NECO Results portal
    • Important reminders:
      • One token is valid to access your results up to five times. After these uses, you will need to use the NECO e-Verify Platform for additional checks.
      • Candidates with examination sessions from 1999 or earlier must verify results via the NECO Results Portal, as records for exams before 2000 are unavailable on the NECO e-Verify Platform.
    • How to purchase a token?
      1. Visit the NECO Results portal.
      2. Click the Create account here! link to purchase a token.
      3. Fill out the necessary information and click Create Account.
      4. Log in with your email address and password.
      5. Once you have logged in, click Purchase Token under Pay for Result Token tab.
      6. Complete the purchase through Remita. After purchase, the token will automatically appear in your account.
      7. Click on View Token under the View Purchased Token tab to access it.
      8. Copy the token and email it to transcripts@nexford.edu along with the following examination details:
        • Examination year
        • Examination type (SSCE INTERNAL or SSCE EXTERNAL)
        • Registration number
      9. The Admissions team will notify you via email once the verification process is completed successfully.
  • NECO e-Verify Platform (https://everify.neco.gov.ng/)
    • Guidelines
      • Verification limits for candidates with examination sessions from 2000 onwards
        • Candidates who have used the new NECO result verification portal to verify their result five times with tokens cannot perform additional verifications for the same examination session using another token
      • Result verification for candidates with examination sessions from 1999 or earlier
        • Records for exams before 2000 are unavailable on the NECO e-Verify Platform.
        • Candidates must purchase tokens and verify results via the NECO Result Verification Portal instead.

      • Token use for result verification
        • Candidates purchasing tokens on the NECO e-Verify Platform can:
          • Self-verify results and share it with their institution of choice.
          • Allow their institution of choice to verify results using the Institution Sign In feature.
    • How to purchase a token?
      1. Visit the NECO e-Verify Platform
      2. Navigate to the Register tab on the top menu and select Individual Register from the dropdown.
      3. On the Candidate Register page, provide the necessary details and click Register Now.
      4. Log in using your credentials and select Purchase Token button on the top-right section of the dashboard.
      5. Complete the purchase through Remita by entering the following information:
        • Your name
        • Email address
        • Phone number
      6. After a successful transaction, a Remita receipt with a 12-digit RRR number will be sent to your email address.
    • Sharing NECO certificate via result self-verification
      1. Log in to your account using the Individual Sign In option.
      2. Click the Validate Token Payment button and provide the following details:
        • 12-digit RRR number
        • Phone number
        • Email address
      3. Upon successful validation, a token will be generated under the Newly generated request section
      4. Click Submit Application buttonOffice of Admissions under Newly generated request section. On the next page, fill in the following details:

      5. Enter the required examination details:
        • Examination number

      6. Validate your examination number and click Submit Application.
      7. A report will be generated in PDF format for viewing. This report will also be automatically sent to Nexford University's Office of Admissions at transcripts@nexford.edu.
    • Institution-initiated NECO result verification
      1. Share your Remita receipt to transcripts@nexford.edu.
      2. The Admissions team will verify your results by entering the following using the NECO e-Verify platform's Institution Sign In feature:
        • 12-digit RRR number
        • Email address
        • Phone number
      3. A notification will be sent to you confirming the result verification process has been concluded.
        • Note: Results verified by Nexford University will not show up in the candidates' dashboard for viewing.
